What on earth does our environment is but our looking glass mean? It comes from this poem by James Allen an English Author & poet.

Mind is the Master Power that molds and makes,

And we are mind.  And ever more we take

The tool of thought, and shaping what we will,

Bring forth a thousand joys, or a thousand ills.

We think in secret, and it comes to pass,

Environment, is but our looking glass.

A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.

Our environment is a direct reflection of our innermost thoughts or as Sandy Gallagher said “The results that you are achieving are a direct reflection of the image of yourself you are holding.  Improve the image & the improvement will automatically be reflected in your results”.

In 1900 William James, one of America’s earliest & greatest psychologists, said “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.  1900 & here we are in 2018 & still this is not known or understood by the masses!

What does this mean for us?  If we look at previous blogs, we’ll remember that we are programmed from a very young age.  We have, deep in the recesses of our subconscious mind, a perception of who or what we are & what we are worth.  This is our inner self-image, literally a control mechanism that determines what comes into our lives & how well we do.

In today’s world of high expectation, self-confidence is at an all time low.

One of the most powerful ways to improve our self-confidence is the formula of the same name from Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill written circa 1930. Below is my adaptation & explanation of the Success Formula in bold

First Step.

I know that I have the ability to achieve my goal or purpose in life, therefore, I DEVOTE myself daily to persistent, continuous action toward achieving it, and I now promise to take such action.

When you make your goal a decision, the Universe will start creating the opportunities to make it happen. The other thing that will happen is that when you make a decision, you activate the Reticular Activating System or RAS. The what???
Your RAS is a great leadership tool. It is your radar detector ?

Look at it this way – have you ever decided to buy a certain car & all of a sudden you see the same model everywhere? If you are pregnant, or want to be, pregnant women appear to be taking over the world! What’s the go with that?
The cars & pregnant women have always been there, it’s just that your RAS wasn’t set to notice them & the same thing happens when you make a decision, you set your RAS which then goes on the lookout for opportunities to make it happen. You’ll suddenly notice things that have always been there, you just weren’t aware of them. If you focus on your goal daily, you’ll also start to change your actions as your thoughts change, which is why the second step is so important.

As you go through the SC Formula, you’ll see that becoming the successful person who is in possession of their goal, is a key component of achieving big goals & in the second step, you’ll get to really step into the new you

Second Step

Second. I realise the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore, I focus/am focusing my thoughts for thirty minutes daily, thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture.

Once you realise that your thoughts create your reality & are prepared to take responsibility for it, then the world really is your oyster (where on earth did that saying come from??) Anyway, like it or not, our thoughts really do create our reality. If you’re not willing to accept this, you really have no ability to create a different reality.  As long as you are blaming someone or something, then you have given that entity the power to control your life. (Not a good move!)  So, if you don’t like your reality, whether that be your job, your relationships, your finances, your health or anything else, realise that your beliefs have created that.  Now when we talk about beliefs, we’re talking about your subconscious beliefs that were programmed by your past experiences & other people, usually while you were still young.

The Law of Attraction/Vibration responds to the vibration created by the subconscious mind, not the conscious mind, which is why positive affirmations don’t always appear to work.

So, for this step, you have the chance to create a new vibration by visualising who you really want to be for 30 minutes every day. (Split it into smaller sessions if you need to.) This is a crucial component of becoming the person you need to be to achieve your big goal/purpose. This is where you visualise yourself as the weight & health you want to be, doing your ideal job, with the finances you want, etc. The type of person you want to be, confident, high self-esteem & whatever qualities you want to be. You may want to look at people you admire & add those qualities to the person you are becoming.

The key thing in this exercise is to imagine it as though it has already happened. You may or may not know that the subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between real & imagined. Think about the last nightmare you had when you woke in a sweat, possibly panting. Your subconscious mind thought it was real & responded accordingly. It was only when you woke up, that your conscious mind said thank goodness that was only a dream.   So, if you tell yourself something often enough, your subconscious mind starts to believe it & you start to act accordingly. The problem is that we are constantly telling ourselves things on a regular basis & it’s usually negative stuff!

Now I mentioned earlier that the Law of Attraction/Vibration doesn’t respond to the conscious mind so to imprint your new thoughts onto the subconscious mind, use as many of your senses as possible.  See what you look like as the new you, hear what people are saying about your success and notice what you’re feeling. Really feel as though it has already happened, as emotion is the road which moves our thought from the conscious to the subconscious minds. The more you can imprint these feelings, the quicker they will transform into action to create your new reality?

Third Step.

I know through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire I persistently hold in my mind will eventually manifest, therefore I devote/am devoting ten minutes daily to the development of SELF-CONFIDENCE by seeing myself having attained my goals

Now there may be some overlap with the second step here so if there is, go with it? If not, use the same exercise in the previous step, this time having achieved your material goals, so imagine yourself driving the car of your dreams, living in the house of your fantasies, working in the job you desire, the partner of your dreams, etc. Notice what it feels like, what do you hear, what do you see? A word in your shell like here. What you ‘see’ is from your new perspective, being in it,  not seeing you in the situation because then you are observing it, not in it.  BE IT to BECOME IT.

As this feeling begins to become ingrained, you will start to act AS IF at other times, which will further reinforce the imprint into your subconscious.  How would you think & act if you were the owner of your dream car, lived in that awesome house, had a 6-figure income? Caution! This doesn’t mean spend as though you already have it! Simply notice how you would think if you already had your goal.  Someone who drives a Porsche will think very differently than one who drives a Mini. Likewise, someone on a 6-figure income will think very differently than someone on $40,000 a year.

If you are saying “I’ve never earned that much, driven that type of car, much less owned one” think of someone you know who might & notice how they act. Allow your imagination to run wild?

Fourth step.

I have clearly written down a description of my big goal or purpose in life & I persist until I have developed sufficient self-confidence to achieve it.

Your big goal is one that is so big it scares & excites you at the same time. You have no idea how you can achieve it? You don’t need to know how, that’s the chef’s job? My goal is actually my purpose in life & is ‘to inspire & empower others to create individual & global abundance so that everyone in the world has access to everything they need & want’ & when I first discovered it, I had no idea how the heck I could achieve something so colossal. Since I started writing this out & reading it every day, ideas & opportunities come to me on a fairly frequent basis. I now have such confidence in my ability to achieve it that I have the date of 2030 as my target. (Watch this space?)

Fifth. I fully realise that wealth & success need to be built upon truth and justice, therefore, I engage/am engaging only in transactions which benefit all whom it affects. I succeed/am succeeding by attracting what I require, and the cooperation of other people. I inspire/am inspiring others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I eliminate/am eliminating hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I believe in them, and in myself.

I sign/have signed my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full FAITH that it will gradually influence my THOUGHTS and ACTIONS so that I will become a self-reliant, and successful person.

Step 5 is really about integrity 🙂 A negative frequency can only ever attract negative situations so start to become aware of your frequency in situations & ask yourself if it’s the right frequency to attract what it is you want <3

Make a commitment to follow these instructions every day to move closer to your goals. As you build your self-confidence, your goals will start to manifest
